How to Add Events

This calendar is intended for community events open to the public. Meetings of clubs or private parties should not be listed and will be removed.
Here's how to add an event
1. Return to the Calendar page (link in upper right of this page), then click the Add Event button at the bottom of that page. The Add Event window appears. It may appear slightly different from the one pictured here, depending on the browser you're using.
2. Enter the name of your event in the Title field. Keep it under 25 characters to insure that the title appears on one line on the calendar. This leaves room for multiple events on the same day.
3. Enter the description of your event in the Description field. (Your description appears in a "pop-up window" when someone clicks on the event title in the calendar.) Use the Bold, Italic and other buttons in the menu bar above the Description field. Do not use Underline, which should be reserved for linked text.
4. Click white for the background color. (The default color is yellow.)
5. In the Location field, enter the Street Address, City, and State. This enables the calendar to show a map that pinpoints your event.
6. Choose the Date of the event. Very important!
7. Choose a Start time and Duration. Or choose "All Day Event". Please do not add images because they occupy too much calendar space, crowding other listing. Please do not set repeating events.
8. If you want to include a link to your website in the description, select the text on which the link should appear. Next, click the link icon in the menu bar. A box will appear. In the Link URL field of this box, enter the complete URL, including http://
In the Target field, choose "Open link in a new window". Click Insert.
9. Double check your work, and click Save (also very important). You're done. Refresh your browser to see the updated calendar.
Note
There is no way for you to delete the event. If you made a critical mistake (wrong date?), send an email to Michelle at michelle@visitrichmondca.com, and ask her to delete the event for that date.
